Magnum Research is launching a limited-edition Desert Eagle pistol chambered in the expected .50-caliber cartridge that’s equally as famous as these gas-operated Israeli-designed pistols, .50 AE (Action Express). These limited-edition pistols are all decorated in a Viking and old Norsemen theme. With a monotone, battle-worn finish and Viking motifs strewn about, this pistol’s aura relates to the eras of pre-medieval Scandinavia, its fierce warriors and their love for conquest and exploration.
The Viking Desert Eagle is based on the .50 AE Magnum Research Desert Eagle Mark XIX, the most-current .50-caliber model in Magnum Research’s catalog. Thanks to its one-of-a-kind gas operation, this pistol’s action has more in common with a modern semi-automatic rifle than it does with the typical delayed-blowback, semi-automatic pistol. This feature means that its slide assembly functions a little differently and thus provides a fixed point on top of the slide for a Picatinny scope base. The Mark XIX also features two sets of ports right behind the muzzle to help with felt recoil and muzzle flip during shooting. The Desert Eagle Mark XIX also has a full-length Picatinny rail on the bottom of its frame with ample room for nearly any type of pistol accessory.
