First Shots: Tisas PX-5.7 Pistols

Earlier this year, we attended the inaugural 5.7 Fest at Range Ready in Robert, LA, the home of the Gun Talk folks. The idea behind 5.7 Fest was to showcase what’s new in the world of 5.7×28 mm firearms, ammunition and support gear, and one of the interesting firearms we had a chance to check out was the Tisas PX-5.7. This is one of the most affordable firearm chambered in 5.7 mm, and we had a chance to really test it during several courses of fire.

The event was set up with multiple gunwriters, editors, high-ranked shooters and influencers making up the bulk of the invitees. This makes for, as you might imagine, a somewhat high-spirited and competitive group. As such, we were broken into groups and given various challenges with different 5.7 mm firearms. When we were introduced to the Tisas PX-5.7 pistol, it was set up for a Bill Drill shoot-off, where we were to fire six rounds at an IDPA “A” zone-size target as fast as possible. Any misses resulted in a 2-second time penalty.

It gave the 5.7 Fest attendees a great look into what makes the 5.7 mm round so attractive when it comes to recoil control, and it highlighted the durability of the PX-5.7. In fact, Jahred Gamez from SDS Imports (the company in the U.S. that distributes Tisas products) set up an impromptu torture test where he had multiple attendees fire multiple magazines through one test pistol until it had fired 500 rounds—without failure. The PX-5.7 was easy to control, ran well under rapid fire and (aside from getting really hot) proved its mettle in the torture test.

In this video, Gamez talks about the PX-5.7 pistol and the Tisas brand. For more information on this handgun, and other firearms available from Tisas, visit the company’s website at tisausa.com.
