At Least 8 Shot At Water Park

UPDATE @ 11:24PM EST: Police said during a press conference that 8 people were shot during the incident, with all injured and no fatalities. The gunman was found in a home deceased, and an additional firearm was found, leading police to believe that the gunman may have had further plans. The gunman was identified as a 41-year-old white male.


UPDATE @ 10:22PM EST: The gunman is reported dead after taking his own life during a standoff with police. A press conference is scheduled for 11pm est.


UPDATE @ 08:29PM EST: News outlets are reporting that the gunman drove up to the park, exited his vehicle, and began firing a 9mm Glock handgun. Witnesses reported hearing numerous shots as the gunman reloaded his firearm twice, leaving three empty magazines scattered around the scene. Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard confirmed the recovery of the handgun and magazines by the authorities.

The suspect did not remain at the water park. Instead, he fled to a nearby residential area, where he was contained in a home approximately half a mile away from the park. Law enforcement swiftly secured the perimeter around the residence. A SWAT team was assembled to handle the potentially volatile situation, ensuring the safety of the surrounding community.

The incident, which authorities have classified as an active shooter situation, occurred around 6 p.m. The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office has yet to apprehend any suspects but believes they have potentially contained the shooter nearby.

In response to the crisis, the Oakland County Sheriff issued an emergency alert advising residents to avoid the area and seek shelter near Spencer Park. However, Rochester Hills police have clarified that there was no incident at Spencer Park itself.

Details about the victims’ conditions have not been released yet. A press conference is scheduled for later today to provide more information on the situation and any ongoing investigations.
