The suspect’s truck, bearing Texas license plates, displayed peculiar markings, including a pipe or stick wrapped with black cloth at the rear hitch. Investigators are working to determine if the cloth contained symbolic markings or served another purpose.
At the scene, law enforcement also discovered a suspected improvised explosive device, which has led the FBI to join the investigation.
New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) officers responded quickly to the attack, and sources confirm that the suspect was neutralized, potentially by police gunfire. Two officers sustained injuries but remain in stable condition.
