On July 1, Ruger announced it has purchased the assets of Anderson Manufacturing, a major manufacturer of firearms and accessories based in Hebron, KY. This acquisition includes Andersonâs manufacturing facility and machinery, and will provide Ruger with a skilled and experienced workforce, strengthening its production capabilities and expanding its product offerings.

Two of the Biggest
The move is big, a fact confirmed by a recent analysis by Orchidâa firm that specializes in providing services to FFLs. Using the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosivesâ latest firearm manufacturing reportâcovering 2023âit placed Anderson Manufacturing at number seven in the total number of firearms manufactured ranking. Ruger was number one.
Total number of firearms produced by Anderson in 2023 came in at 337,658. Rugerâs volume was 1,305,615. By comparison, the number two manufacturer, SIG Sauer, made 1,020,755 guns.
Ruger stated in the press release it will not continue the Anderson Manufacturing brand or its firearm products. Instead, the company will integrate the facilityâs capabilities into its broader operations, with a focus on launching new products, expanding Rugerâs popular product lines and growing its established accessories business.
